Juan, a 1982 graduate of the University of Florida Business School, is the managing partner of the Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP’s Miami office. Juan is a practicing attorney specializing in labor and employment issues, as well as commercial and international litigation. Among other professional recognitions, he has been repeatedly recognized as a Leader in Labor & Employment in Florida by Chambers USA; was recognized as one of the 100 Most Powerful Employment Attorneys in the U.S. by Human Resources Executive magazine/Lawdragon;  and was selected as Lawyer of the Year for Labor Law – Management for 2020 and 2022 by The Best Lawyers in America. Juan also taught Constitutional Law in the Political Science Department at Florida International University.

Juan has been actively involved in community activities in South Florida. He has served as a member of the United Way Center for Financial Stability; a member of the United Way of Miami’s Tocqueville Society; a member of the Board of the Kozyak Minority Mentoring Foundation; a member of the Board of Advisors of the University of Miami School of Law Center for Ethics and Public Policy; and a member of the Board of the Leadership and Learning Center at St. John Bosco Catholic Church. He is also a former member of the Third District Court of Appeal Judicial Nomination Committee and of the Federal Magistrate Judge Merit Selection Panel of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida.

Juan has served the University of Florida in various capacities. He is a past President and former member of the Board of the Association of Hispanic Alumni. He served for six years as a member of the University of Florida Alumni Association, serving one year in the Executive Committee of the UFAA. He also chaired the South Florida Working Group as part of his duties as member of the Board of the UFAA.
