Hello! My name is Sean Gilliam, I am a 3rd year information systems major from Palm Coast, FL. At the intersection of business and technology, I love the “people” aspect of interacting with technology and excited to make a difference at UF and beyond in my career. My time in college has certainly shaped who I am today, starting with the incredible community I met as a participant in Adelante, the Hispanic early arrival program at UF. Since then, I have become a peer leader, striving to give back to the community who served me. In my free time, I love to travel, run, and do just about anything outdoors.

This past semester, I studied abroad in Madrid, Spain, which was nothing short of incredible! I met so many amazing people from around the world, with perspectives that impacted the way I thought and lived. Additionally, I was able to be immersed in the Spanish culture, preparing me to adapt to change and giving me the  opportunity to practice my Spanish. This summer, I plan to move to Tampa for an internship with Citi Bank, which will allow me to gain insights into the operations of a global company and collaborate with other like-minded interns. 

Looking ahead, my academic and future career goals revolve around leveraging technology to drive business efficiency and solve real-world problems. I am a  prospective candidate in the MS ISOM combined degree program, where I would earn my master’s degree alongside my bachelor’s, increasing my knowledge base and experience along the way. I aspire to work at the forefront of digital transformation, creating innovative solutions that drive positive change. This scholarship from the AHA has brought me one step closer to realizing my dreams, and I am excited to see how my time at UF will shape my journey in the next chapter of life.
