I was recently accepted to the University of Florida’s College of Medicine and will matriculate in Fall 2024. I graduated from UF with a Bachelor of Science majoring in Biology in December 2022. I am a first-generation student and during my undergraduate, I made an effort to be active not only on campus, but also in the Gainesville community. I was a teaching assistant for two courses at UF and held leadership positions as a Spanish Translation Director for two student organizations. I worked closely with these organizations to bring awareness and advocate for patient populations with low health literacy and bridge the gap in health disparities. After graduating from UF, I stayed in Gainesville and worked full time as a Health Center Coordinator at a reproductive health clinic. My working experience has reaffirmed my desire to carry a leadership role in a healthcare team and continue providing quality care for patients. My goal for the future is to pursue a career in primary care, specializing in rural medicine, to make healthcare and education accessible to underserved populations. In my free time, I enjoy kayaking, antiquing, roller skating, and hammocking.
