She is passionate about giving back to the Hispanic community and underserved populations through her clinical volunteering at the UF Mobile Outreach Clinic and at North Florida Hospital. She is also a research assistant in the Brain Language and Bilingualism Lab where she is involved in neurolinguistics EEG studies. This summer she has been accepted to a prestigious summer research internship at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine for pulmonary and critical care medicine. She has been nominated for the President’s Honor Roll and Dean’s list for her stellar academic achievements. These accolades, extracurricular involvement, and leadership are just a sample of the many achievements that show Melanie’s laser focus as she pursues her dream of becoming a neurologist.
