“I am beyond grateful to UF AHA for their support of my dream of becoming a physician. Medical school has a lot of challenges and stressors and thinking about finances for every semester is one of the worst. This year has been especially difficult with several unanticipated expenses after losing a family member in Colombia due to COVID. Being selected for the Colonel Glenn A. Farris Scholarship allows me to spend more time and energy focused on my clinical rotations instead of worrying about loans and tuition for this year. After 8 years as a Gator, I can whole-heartedly say this is an incredible and supportive community and I look forward to getting the chance to give back in the future, to help students like me have one less thing to worry about. Throughout my career, I will also continue to work closely with community leaders to help patients in the Latino and migrant community have access to the medical care they need and deserve.
