After the Coronavirus lockdown, we were all eager to get together with fellow Gators as establishments around the country started to re-open. In 2021, we decided to launch a new initiative to encourage Gators to re-enter the outside world: the Hispanic Heritage Huddle. We already have GGG, so naturally HHH would come next, right? We partnered with local Gator clubs to expand our reach and bring Gators of all backgrounds out to watch Gator football with us during Hispanic Heritage Month. Because we don’t have a central watch party location as a national group, we embraced the opportunity to collaborate with local clubs and co-host watch parties with them.
In 2021, we started off with 3 Gator Clubs as co-hosts (Shoutout to Gotham Gator Club, DC Gator Club & Seattle Gator Club). We loved the feedback we got from each region, and we loved spreading the word about Hispanic Heritage Month and UF-AHA to a broader audience. We knew immediately that this was something we’d like to continue and expand as we continue to grow our regional UF-AHA presence around the country.
In 2022, we expanded to co-host watch parties in 11 cities, and in 2023 we grew to 15 cities. We may be separated by distance and time zones, but we all come together by doing the same thing, at the same time, with the same purpose, through these satellite events, and each year, we love seeing Hispanic Heritage Huddle pictures from around the country.
We are proud to announce the Hispanic Heritage Huddle won UFAA’s inaugural Collaboration Award Clubbie for 2022-23!
