Class of 2026
Adelante Caimán Scholarship 2024
Hello! My name is Geremy Macedo, and I am currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Florida. Originating from Cusco, Peru, I have always been fascinated by the potential of technology to solve real-world problems, which led me to the field of electrical engineering with a special focus on renewable energy systems.
At the University of Florida, being a first-generation student ,my academic journey has been rich and diverse allowing me to develop deep into the intricacies of smart grids, renewable energy technologies, and sustainable systems. My passion for innovation and sustainability in energy has driven me to participate in several hands-on projects, including my current role in the Machine Intelligence Lab, where I am involved in designing control systems for autonomous vehicles. These experiences have not only sharpened my technical skills but also reinforced my commitment to using technology to promote sustainability.
Outside the classroom, I am actively involved in the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, where I serve as a mentor to first-year students, guiding them through their initial academic and social experiences at university. This role is incredibly fulfilling as it allows me to give back to the community by supporting upcoming engineers. Looking ahead, I am excited about the opportunities to further my education and professional experience in energy systems engineering. My ultimate goal is to contribute to the development of innovative and sustainable energy solutions that can address global challenges such as climate change and energy efficiency.
I am thrilled to be part of the UF AHA community, where I can share my journey, learn from like-minded peers, and continue to explore the vast possibilities of engineering in making the world a better place. Due to the generosity of Adelante Caiman scholarship, some financial stress and strain will be relieved. I am incredibly grateful for this program and the opportunity they have opened for me.
