Katrina Cordova graduated from the University of Florida in 2006 with a degree in Public Relations and a minor in Spanish. She was distinguished as a Reitz Scholar, Matthews Society, and UF Hall of Fame member in recognition of her leadership and academic accolades. She served as President of the Hispanic Student Association and led Hispanic Heritage Month festivities and initiatives for two consecutive years. She was a College of Journalism ambassador at the 3rd International Congress for Public Relations in Uruguay, later working with educational and legislative leaders on the Florida Board of Governors to discuss Hispanic/Latino students’ concerns for representation and advancement.

Upon graduation, she joined Teach for America and began her career at Miami Northwestern Senior High School and earned the 2007 Rookie Teacher of the Year award. In 2009, she transferred to Westland Hialeah Senior High School, which led to her involvement as leader of the Freshman Orientation Program and CITI for Post-Secondary Success College Program. In 2014, she was promoted to Activities Director for her passion and dedication to leadership and extracurricular involvement. Since then, she has expanded her role as an integral member of her school’s magnet and recruitment efforts.

In 2019, she was recognized as City of Hialeah High School Teacher of the Year. She continues to dedicate her efforts to making an impact in her hometown by working closely with all community stakeholders, including the American Cancer Society, Kiwanis Club, and the Miami Children’s Museum to advance student development through leadership and service. Her highest priority is to foster a comprehensive and beneficial social high school experience to stimulate students’ post-secondary enrollment and success. Katrina resides in Miramar, FL with her husband Matthew, and two daughters Gators in training, Angela and Gabriella. Katrina has served on the UF-AHA Board since July 1, 2015.
