Monica Alvarez-Cunningham is a double Gator with a B.S. in Telecommunications – News (2007) and an M.B.A (2022). She was born in New Jersey to working class Cuban parents. Her family eventually relocated to Miami, FL, where she attended Saint Brendan High School. While at SBHS she was selected as a National Hispanic Merit Scholar, which awarded her a full scholarship to attend UF, her dream school.
Upon graduating in 2007, she went on to work for ESPN and NBC Deportes/Telemundo Network Sports on projects such as the NBA Finals, the Super Bowl, and World Series. Monica received multiple Sports Emmy nominations, and was a member of the Emmy Award-winning team behind the 2010 FIFA World Cup on ABC.
In 2020, she joined TTEC, a global company with over 50,000 employees worldwide, and is in recruitment marketing, managing their EMEA, Canada and LATAM markets.
Currently, she’s back in Miami with her husband Duane, their Westie Charlie and their baby girl Tiffany. She enjoys traveling, hiking, true crime podcasts and Crossfit.
