The University of Florida Association of Hispanic Alumni (UF-AHA) is an affiliate of the University of Florida Alumni Association. Founded in 1990, our mission is to promote the University of Florida and its Hispanic/Latino heritage, and to provide support to current UF students in their development as future Gator alumni. Integral to our mission of supporting current UF students is raising funds for scholarships for students attending UF, which is done through our fundraising events, such as the Gator Guayabera Guateque, and the direct contributions of our generous donors.
The Association was established and was known as the Hispanic Alumni Association.
Formally established as the UF Association of Hispanic Alumni (UF-AHA).
The UF-AHA started the Gator Guayabera Guateque (GGG) to celebrate our Hispanic/Latino heritage, and raise funds for student scholarships. The first GGG in 2004 was hosted at the Village of Merrick Park in Coral Gables, FL.
First donation made to the University of Florida’s Hispanic-Latino Affairs (formerly known as the “Institute of Hispanic-Latino Cultures” or “La Casita”).
Contributions made by the UF-AHA to the University of Florida in the form of direct contributions to the UF-AHA endowment, Hispanic-Latino Affairs, and student scholarships reaches over $100,000. This is also the first year the UF-AHA donates money to the Machen Florida Opportunity Scholars (MFOS) program.
The UF-AHA celebrates the Gator Guayabera Guateque’s Quinceañera.
The UF-AHA establishes the “AHA/MFOS Endowment” to support students in the MFOS program who graduate from high schools in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties.
Honoring the time we spent at UF and the triumphs we’ve achieved since.
Forging new opportunities through mutual support and leadership.
Making the Gator dream a reality for new generations.
