Raymond Dueñas is the Director Community Affairs at the Miami Herald & el Nuevo Herald. He has been with the company for more than 11 years and has held numerous roles within the Advertising and Marketing Departments. He oversees the Miami Herald & el Nuevo Herald’s iconic events such as the Silver Knight Awards and the Miami Herald Spelling Bee, both programs recognizing school-aged students in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Monroe county for their commitment to service, education, literacy, and community all around. In June 2024, Raymond was recognized as a James McClatchy Awards Recipient by McClatchy, Miami Herald parent company, which honors those working behind the scenes of our newsrooms. They do mission-critical work so that we can deliver quality journalism and products to our audiences.
Raymond is a graduate of Leadership Miami Class 42 where he was recognized as the Carlos J. Arboleya Community Service Award recipient. Immediately after graduating, he joined the Executive Planning Committee as Recruitment Vice-Chair, Focus Session Chair, Alumni Co-Chair and now leads the Strategic Impact Committee for Alumni and Program initiatives. Raymond serves as a Professional Development Co-Chair for United Way Miami’s Young Leaders Executive Committee, Advancement Chair for Beyond 10 Days of Connection, on the Board of Directors for the Girl Scouts of Tropical Florida, and Vice President of Outreach for the Gator Club of Miami.
During his time at the University of Florida, Raymond served on the cabinet for the Hispanic Student Association (HSA) as Organizational Liaison and served in multiple roles for Hispanic Heritage Month and Hispanic-Latino Student Assembly. Raymond obtained a Bachelor of Science in Telecommunications from the University of Florida with minors in Communication Studies & Theater in 2012. Raymond currently resides in his hometown of Miami, FL.
